Changes in PRINCE2 2009
What is different in PRINCE2® 2009
The PRINCE2® 2009 refresh will be significant. The refresh project has been going on since 2007 and major changes to the method are planned including:
2 x PRINCE2® Manuals: Managing a Successful Project with PRINCE2® and Directing a Successful Project with PRINCE2®Much more supporting material
New PRINCE2® Exams
New PRINCE2® logo
New Process Model / Themes and Principles
APMG are running a separate project to upgrade the exams. The Foundation and Practitioner exams will be retained.
The Practitioner exam will be made harder. The current papers are felt to be too easy for a professional exam and currently have pass marks that are too high. APMG have been aware of this for 18 months but have postponed any changes until the 2009 Refresh was issued. They are now running a project to change the exams. So students may want to use the opportunity to take the current exam before this happens!
No. Your PRINCE2® qualification remains valid. All PRINCE2® Practitioners have to re-certify between 3 and 5 years after qualifying. When you re-certify you will be tested on the current version of the methodology.
Yes. You are not required to re-take the Practitioner. You will still be a PRINCE2® Practitioner when the new version is released and no distinction is made between versions.
