About IT Service Management FitSM v3 Foundation

    IT Service Management FitSM® Foundation

FitSM is built on four key principles: practicality, consistency, sufficiency and extendibility. Its a lightweight IT service management (ITSM) standard applicable to commercial organisations, government agencies and non-profit organisations.

FitSM Foundation will certify your ability in implementing effective foundation level IT service management processes. The certification provides the basics of service management with a focus on the most important processes to ensure smooth IT operations. FitSM was designed to be compatible with ISO/IEC 20000-1 standard and ITIL.

This FitSM Foundation course aims to provide basic IT service management concepts and terms.

    Why choose FitSM over ITIL

ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) and FitSM (Framework for Integrated Test and Service Management) are both IT Service Management (ITSM) frameworks, but they have some key differences:

    • Scope: ITIL is a comprehensive framework covering the entire ITSM lifecycle, while FitSM is a more lightweight framework designed for small and medium-sized organizations.
    • Complexity: ITIL is a more complex framework with a large number of processes, roles, and functions, while FitSM is simpler and more streamlined, focusing on essential processes and functions.
    • Flexibility: ITIL is a more prescriptive framework, while FitSM is designed to be more flexible and adaptable to different organizations’ needs.
    • Certification: ITIL has a well-established certification scheme, while FitSM has a less formal certification process.
    • Adoption: ITIL is widely adopted in large enterprises and government organizations, while FitSM is more commonly used in medium and smaller organizations.

Overall, ITIL is a more comprehensive and complex framework, while FitSM is a more lightweight and flexible framework designed for smaller organizations. The choice between the two frameworks depends on the organization’s size, complexity, and specific needs.
